The page states the narrower pitches, PR1.5, PR1.9 and PR2.5, are positioned for backdrops built for close-camera work, while the wider PR3.9 and PR5.2 are positioned for ceiling lighting rather than backdrop duty. Using PR2.5 as its example, Absen states the panel covers 99.9 percent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, supports a frame rate up to 251Hz, a 7,680Hz refresh rate and 16-bit greyscale, framed as reducing visible scan lines and colour banding.

What the documents establish

These are Absen's own specification claims for its newer line, not an independently measured benchmark, and the page does not compare PR against a named competitor's panel. Absen's full product catalogue corroborates that PR is marketed as one line among several, indoor, outdoor, rental and MicroLED, labelled specifically 'High-end Professional Virtual Production Display', which supports treating it as a distinct camera-facing tier rather than a repurposed rental panel. Neither page names a specific production or stage using PR, so the vendor's in-camera claims should be read as design intent rather than a documented on-set result.

The department view

The pitch ladder matters to the DP and the volume's technical director jointly, because pixel pitch sets the minimum safe camera distance before individual LEDs become resolvable, and the vendor's own framing ties pitch choice to shot type: PR1.5 for close inserts, coarser pitches for wider or overhead coverage. The magnesium-alloy casing and curve-block hardware Absen describes are a rigging and grip concern, not a colour concern, and change how quickly a stage can be reconfigured between builds.

What to check before you build

This is an editorial checklist. A production should confirm which PR pixel-pitch variant is quoted in a bid, since the DCI-P3 and refresh-rate figures Absen publishes are stated for PR2.5 specifically and are not guaranteed identical across the whole PR family. It should also ask the integrator for the panel's actual moire behaviour on the camera and lens combination planned, since Absen's page describes glare and banding reduction in general terms rather than against a stated test camera.

• Has the integrator tested this panel against the production's own camera and lens rather than relying on the vendor's general in-camera claim?

Absen's page is a manufacturer's specification sheet dated only by its retrieval, useful for narrowing which product a quote refers to, but it is not a substitute for a camera test on the specific pitch a stage will actually install.
